Homework Review Questions - ALL AC2 - CPE STUDENTS
First of all, apologies if you really wanted these by Sunday. In the end, I was nowhere near the internet, so wasn’t able to post. Anyway, this homework only has to be handed in after the Easter break, so you’ve got plenty of time.
And plenty of choice! There should be something for everyone here! Question 1 is straight from your exam practice book; questions 2 and 3 are along similar lines.

3 Your tutor has asked you to write a review of a book you have read recently for the British Council’s online global bookclub, EnCompassCulture, saying what, in your opinion, made the book work. Write your review.
4 In an essay originally published in ‘The Guardian’, and published on the net on Powells.com, Monica Ali asks of Brick Lane, “How can I write about a community to which I do not truly belong? Perhaps, the answer is I can write about it because I do not truly belong.” How well do you feel that Monica Ali evokes the life and atmosphere of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in ‘Brick Lane’, and how does she achieve this? Write your essay.
5 Your tutor has asked you to write a review of Brick Lane for the British Council’s online global bookclub, EnCompassCulture, commenting on the balance between the use of comedy, tragedy and drama in the book. Write your review.
6 Your tutor has asked you to write a review of George Orwell’s book 1984, drawing parallels between the story and heroes of this book, and those of more modern stories such as Matrix. Write your review.
