Prof 2 (Saturday Classes) Easter Homework

Here is the work you should be getting on with over the Easter break. Remember, when you get back, we'll have another two units of the book to do, with 2 more progress tests and Proficiency-type exercises, too, so this is a chance for you to get ahead!

1) The next unit of the book is 'Words'. To go with this, you should work through the following units of English Vocabulary in Use Advanced: Section One – Aspects of vocabulary learning (i) - (viii); Units 1 – 6, Word Formation; Units 96 – 100, Aspects of Variation That's a lot of units. This will take you through to the end of the year, but don't leave it all till the last minute - start now!

2) Watch this YouTube video: Professor David Crystal, one of the world's leading linguistic experts, challenges the myth that new communication technologies are destroying language
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Boj8VYzDAy8

3) Finally, read either or both of these short Open University articles:

Global English: http://www.open.edu/openlearn/history-the-arts/culture/english-language/global-english

Emotive Language: http://www.open.edu/openlearn/history-the-arts/culture/english-language/emotive-language

That's it! Have a good Easter, and see you in April!

T7 Easter

A lot of people missed the last class, which was a pity, but so you can keep up, here is the homework for the Easter break.

- Do exercise 2 on page 82 of the coursebook. Check words you don't know in a good dictionary.
- Read the text on page 85 of the coursebook and do exercises 4 and 5 on page 84.
We will check both of these activities in the first class back after Easter.

- An optional extra: If you feel you need some extra practice, now is a good time to use your Workbook for revision! Choose any unit you want extra practice of the language we have done. Check your work with me when you get back.

- Remember, if you haven't finished 'Refugee Boy', then you need to finish it over the Easter break. Don't leave it till the last minute!

Have a good Easter!

Portugal and the Euro and Margaret Thatcher

Here's the article for T7 students to read for homework from the Economist.

The article on Margaret Thatcher I mentioned is here:

Prof2 and Prof5 students, if you'd like to comment on either of these, you can do it on the link! http://thelink.lefora.com/
