In-Class Movies

These were definitely NOT a linguistically useful exercise! Good fun, though. My challenge to you all now is come up with something better and funnier. email it to me and I'll post it here for all to share, or post it to the British Council Hub.
To try to make some language-learning use out of what we did in class, I've made a language comment on each one, below.

All You Need is Love by the Three Musketeers.
Language point: "I would never have pitured you..."

Bush is Dead by Sofia and Filipe. Very clever, but I'm not sure how on earth I'm supposed to correct it!

The Ninfo by Taviera.
Language point: Make sure you don't write im in the exam. "I'm" Don't get into messengerese, please!

Feel Like by FLM. Very clever.
Language point: These trousers

Debating Competition

A reminder and an invitation.

First, our own in-house debating specialist, Lucy Bravo, is going to hold a debating session tomorrow, Saturday November 4th, at 11.00am in ECP in Rua do Rosario, around the corner from the Breiner centre. If any of my CAE or CPE students from this or last year would like to attend that session, please do come along. Just go to ECP and let Lucy know who you are. I may come along with my sparky and interested FCE class, depending on interest and enthusiasm.

Secondly, do remember the Debating Competition to be held on Saturday November 11th. Organised by Jon Ross of the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto and held at CLIP, this is an excellent opportunity to either participate or watch some good competition debating. I've already spoken to all classes about this, but email or see me if you need further details of how to take part.

If any Saturday student wishes to attend this debating day instead of coming to class, please let me know.
