As promised, some links for FCE students to do with education! Please try to read at least one of the following articles, and be prepared to comment in the next class!

1) First, an article which argues that computer games are useful for developing learning skills, and that bloodthirsty games, such as Tomb Raider (Kill Bill??) do not encourage more violence in society. I will discreetly cough into my sleeve… Anyway, a good article, and some interesting links at the bottom of the page to have a look at, including a games weblog. Come to the class prepared to give your opinion on the ideas discussed.

2) Second choice is an article for budding and hopeful scholars about a new version of ‘Google’ to help you find academic material relevant to your studies. This could be very interesting indeed for people needing to carry out research and document searches on the internet. Read the article, and be prepared to comment on what were found to be the advantages and disadvantages, and how the site was tested.

3) Final choice is the BBC’s ‘BBC Learning’ website. The homepage is:

Click on one of the links here, and read something you find interesting. Some of it is aimed at British School or Sixth Form Students (particularly the Guru Study Guides), but there’s a lot of interesting general informative stuff. I’ve just been checking out dinosaurs on the science section and the bit on Leonardo da Vinci (also in the ‘Science’ section) makes very interesting reading and includes another personality quiz!
